"I use photography as a visual diary. I don't write a lot but I try to be aware of my life and my environment as much as possible. Photography allows me to record my observations or questions quickly. As for what I like to shoot, I shoot what ever catches my eye. Quite often I am attracted to images of unintended irony.
Other times it's purely a question of a beautiful composition or rich lighting. As a rule, I don't "set up" shots. I like to shoot quickly and often. I like to photograph reality as I come across it. It is usually much more interesting than any fiction I might try to create. The cities of the world are full of these odd twists of normal life.
I have had the opportunity to photograph in places such as New York, Cairo, London, Glasgow Scotland, and Paris. I have also enjoyed shooting in rural America. I spent 3 months in "down east" Maine, and most recently the majority of my shooting was done at the Padlock ranch. I hope my images from the ranch provide a unique window into life on a large cattle ranch in the present day.
